Volunteer Events

Volunteering for Great Parks of Hamilton County will lead you to fun, rewarding and unforgettable experiences! Help with invasive plant removal, patrol one of our more than 70 miles of trails, volunteer at our Shaker Trace Nursery or interact directly with park guests at one of our gift shops, visitor centers or nature programs. Join our outstanding team of volunteers and staff members and learn new skills, meet people with similar interests, all while making a difference in your community. Whether you have time to volunteer long-term, a few weeks or only once or twice a year, Great Parks of Hamilton County has a place for you! It's fun, rewarding and easy to get involved. Help refresh the playground gazebo by prepping the wood and giving it a fresh coat of paint! This event runs from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM.

Invasive Removal at Miami Whitewater Forest

Join us in restoring a satellite tract within the Whitewater River Corridor. We will be removing invasive pear trees and other invasive woodies by cutting with hand tools and stump treating to help our natives thrive. This event runs from 9:00 AM to noon.

Trail Maintenance at Mitchell Memorial Forest

Contribute to a sustainable trail system by maintaining sections of the Mountain Bike Trail! Haul in large stones and cobble sections to repair wet areas along the trail. This event runs from 9:00 AM to noon.

Remove invasive species on the nature trail at Triple Creek to improve the health of the forest’s understory! Learn the tips and tricks of identifying honeysuckle species and properly treating and managing the species to prevent regrowth. This event runs from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM.

Invasive Removal at Shawnee Lookout

Join us on the Little Turtle Trail to enjoy fall foliage and scenic views while removing invasive honeysuckle, multiflora rose, wintercreeper, and more. This reduces the spread of invasive woody plants to help ensure Shawnee Lookout trails stay wild and beautiful! This event runs from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM.

Litter Cleanup at Glenwood Gardens

Clean up litter along Sheffield Road to protect this 335-acre park featuring formal gardens, prairies, forests, and wetlands. Registration closes on Tuesday, September 16. This event runs from 9:00 AM to noon.

The Clean Sweep of the Great Miami is an annual event focused on removing trash and restoring the health of the Great Miami River. It’s an opportunity to learn about our river, and it’s a time to come together with your families, your neighbors, your community, and your friends to accomplish something vital and worthy on behalf of our Great Miami River. This event runs from 9:00 AM to noon.
